About Renee鈥� Ramsey
Ms. Ramsey graduated from Texas A&M University with a B.S. in Sociology, then Texas A&M International University with an M.A. in Sociology, and completed her Ph.D. coursework at Utah State University in Sociology (Demography). When Ms. Ramsey moved back to Texas, she knew she wanted to be an academic advisor and possibly teach Sociology. At the suggestion of her mother, Renee applied to 黑料社 in 2003 and has been here for almost 16 years! She gives her mother all the credit!
What kind of impact has NC made on you?
鈥淚 have made lifelong friends while working at 黑料社. My favorite event of the year is graduation- it is always exciting to see students through their goals and lead them into their future. It鈥檚 enjoyable when they stop back by and let me know their progress- makes me so proud! Just yesterday a former student stopped in with her son who graduated high school and I couldn鈥檛 believe it- I remember him when he was just a baby and now he is over 6鈥� tall and starting college.鈥�
What advice would you offer students and parents?
鈥淒on鈥檛 be afraid to ask questions and keep asking questions until you understand. It鈥檚 important to research, be financially literate, and make good money decisions. I would also tell parents to support and encourage their children and their interests. Students- go to class, get to know your professors, appreciate the opportunity to learn and take college seriously! I also believe you should talk to older members of your family- some of the things you can learn from them you won鈥檛 find in a book. Oh yeah, and stay healthy and hydrated!鈥�
What makes NC so special?
鈥淭he people- the students, the faculty, and the staff. Students from other colleges who are visiting or have transferred have even commented on their positive experiences at Navarro as far as accessibility and helpfulness of the people here and that makes me proud.鈥�
What do you do in your free time?
鈥淚 love to travel! My goal is the Traveler鈥檚 Century Club- to visit 100 of the world鈥檚 countries or territories. I鈥檓 at 43 right now! I enjoy white water rafting, ATV riding, horror movies, board games, poker, and ziplining. My friends would also say I鈥檓 obsessed with making lists.鈥�
