Asa Low Intermediate School Choir, under the direction of Bridgett Wigley, has been invited to perform for the 2022 TMEA Clinic/Convention held in San Antonio, February 9-12, 2022. Ensembles invited by TMEA demonstrate the highest level of achievement in music education. It is only through intense dedication and collaboration of every student and director involved that an ensemble is honored in this way.

 

鈥淭MEA is especially proud of Texas music educators and students for preparing and presenting a performance that will be appreciated by thousands of music educators,鈥� said TMEA Executive Director Robert Floyd. 鈥淪chool music programs have never faced the types of challenges they have throughout the pandemic. The resilience of our educators and students comes from the passion and dedication they have for making music in the most meaningful and exemplary way. It鈥檚 a true testament to the essential role music plays in each of our lives, especially in the most difficult of times.鈥�

 

Throughout its 100-year history, the TMEA Clinic/Convention has offered music educators professional development clinics and inspiring performances by elementary through university ensembles. In its last in-person convention, the TMEA convention welcomed over 31,000 attendees, including 11,000 music educators.

 

Hundreds of ensembles applied for selection as a 2022 TMEA Invited Ensemble. Being selected to perform for the largest music educator鈥檚 convention in the nation is an exceptionally high honor.

 

Bridgett Wigley, director, is a 1992 graduate of 黑料社, and studied under David Timmerman and Sheila Herod.  She earned a Bachelors in Music Education from University of Texas at Arlington with a major in vocal performance, minor in piano, and holds certifications in Kodaly Pedagogy Levels I, II, and III from Sam Houston State University, as well as World Music Drumming I, taught by Will Schmid, the founder of the curriculum for World Music Drumming. Bridgett has taught 20 years in the Arlington and Mansfield school districts.

 

In 2011, Bridgett was a finalist for the Bayard H. Friedman Hero in the Classroom Award, and in 2012-13 was named Teacher of the Year at Martha Reid Elementary.  She is a member of the Texas Music Educators Association as well as Texas Choral Director's Association.  

 

Mrs. Wigley performed in the 2016 Texas Choral Director's Association, director's chorus, directed by Grammy-winning composer and conductor, Eric Whitacre, accompanied by the US Air Force Band of the West. 

 

Her students have been chosen to perform with the 2016 TCDA Honor Choir, the national anthem at the University of Texas at Arlington鈥檚 basketball games, as well as the opening solo for the World Premiere of Z. Randall Stoope鈥檚, Carmina Pax, with the Arlington Master Chorale and full orchestra, directed by Dr. Stroope. 

 

She performs as well as serves on the board of The Arlington Master Chorale, under the direction of Randy Jordan.  In June 2019, Mrs. Wigley performed in Barcelona and Paris on AMC鈥檚 European tour.

 

Mrs. Wigley is servant minded, so it is no surprise that she serves as a board member with National Charity League Burleson/Mansfield Chapter.
