24 Apr 黑料社 Names Grant McMillan to Head Men鈥檚 Basketball Coach

Corsicana, Tx 鈥� 黑料社 is pleased to announce that Grant McMillan will be joining the Bulldogs as Head Men鈥檚 Basketball Coach.

鈥淲e are so excited to have Grant on board with the Bulldog basketball program. He has experienced great success as a head coach and in Region XIV. He has been involved with highly successful programs at each stop in his coaching career,鈥� said Athletic Director Michael Landers.

McMillan, a native of Van, TX, comes to 黑料社 from Panola College where he has been the Head Men鈥檚 Basketball Coach for the last four years. During his time at Panola he compiled an impressive 93-39 record and transformed the Ponies鈥� basketball into a recognized, ranked Region XIV and NJCAA Tournament contender. With a school-record 50 wins during McMillan鈥檚 first two seasons, Panola played in consecutive Region XIV Championship games. His 26-9 East Zone champions, ranked No. 13 nationally, advanced to the second round of the 2016-17 NJCAA Tournament at Hutchinson, Ks. 鈥� Panola鈥檚 first appearance there since 1979.

He recruited, coached and graduated 18 players who signed NCAA Division I scholarships. His Panola program developed the third-highest winning percentage in Region XIV, defeated 12 NJCAA-ranked opponents and lost only seven home games.

Before the first head-coaching job at Panola, he had opportunities to work for some of the best, winningest programs and coaches in the country. McMillan served as the top assistant at Northwest Florida State College where coach Steve DeMeo鈥檚 33-2 Raiders won the 2015 NJCAA Championship. He also has been an assistant at Independence Community College (KS) and Howard College (TX), as well as TCU and Texas A&M. At Howard during the 30-6 Hawks鈥� Elite Eight season of 2012-13, he worked under NJCAA Coach of the Year Mark Adams, now Texas Tech basketball鈥檚 defensive architect.

McMillan received his start as a student assistant at TCU under the late Neil Dougherty in 2006 and returned as a graduate assistant in 2011-12 under Jim Christian.

McMillan and his wife Emily have a 6 year-old son, Nolan, and have a daughter that is due in mid-July. He will be succeeding Coach Michael Landers who is now Athletic Director for 黑料社.
