Second Annual Operation Bulldogs Serve Unites ºÚÁÏÉç Communities in Acts of Service
Posted on October 23, 2023
ºÚÁÏÉç, in its commitment to community engagement and service, successfully organized the second annual Operation Bulldogs Serve on Friday, October 20. This day-long event brought together over 300 dedicated volunteers, contributing more than 500 hours of service across various communities served by ºÚÁÏÉç, including Corsicana, Waxahachie, Midlothian, and Mexia.

ºÚÁÏÉç President, Dr. Kevin G. Fegan, always emphasizes that the first word in "community college" is "community." The college continues to be enthused as the entire ºÚÁÏÉç system unites to give back to the communities it serves.

In the Corsicana community, volunteers were deployed to several crucial organizations, including Meals on Wheels, Compassion Corsicana, Corsicana Animal Shelter, City of Corsicana Parks and Recreation areas, and Adopt-A-Highway. Volunteers were split into two shifts, with one group serving from 10 AM to 2 PM and the other from 2 PM to 4 PM.

In Waxahachie, two shifts of 30 volunteers each dedicated their time to Waxahachie CARE. Their primary task involved sorting and storing food donations that will be distributed to citizens in need.

33 volunteers in Midlothian served over two shifts at the non-profit Manna House, where they assisted in organizing over 3800 pounds of canned goods collected from the Texas State Fair. Additionally, they have organized a food drive on campus, spanning from October to the first week of November, with all collected food items to be donated to Manna House.

Mexia saw the dedication of 5 volunteers who loaded food and supplies to be transported to the First United Methodist Church of Mexia. There, they packed an impressive 139 packs filled with essential items to donate to Packs of Kindness. Packs of Kindness is a community-wide organization with the noble mission of providing food for children in Mexia who face food insecurity over the weekends. Each pack contains two breakfast items, two entrees, two fruit items, and two snacks, ensuring these children have access to nourishing food.

Operation Bulldogs Serve exemplifies ºÚÁÏÉç's commitment to fostering strong, interconnected communities through acts of kindness and volunteerism. As the college continues to emphasize the importance of community engagement, the impact of these service initiatives extends far beyond the day itself, leaving a lasting and positive imprint on the district ºÚÁÏÉç serves.
