Frequently Asked Questions about the LVN Program

Can I apply to the Vocational Nursing Program (LVN) and the Registered Nursing Program (ADN) at the same time?

Yes. Separate applications can be made to both programs. Contact the ADN Department program director if you are interested in submitting an application to the ADN program. Eligibility for the Vocational Nursing Program is determined after taking the TEAS test and meeting the other entrance criteria for the program.

If I don鈥檛 get into the Vocational Nursing program this year, can I re-apply next year?

Yes. There is no limitation on the number of times an application can be made to the Vocational Nursing program, but applicants must retake the the TEAS test and watch the virtual information session during the year of your application.  During this time, it is recommended that applicants take academic courses to prepare you for the LVN and/or ADN program. Recommended courses are BIOL 2401 and 2402 (Anatomy and Physiology), and PSYC 2301 (General Psychology), and PSYC 2314 (Lifespan Growth and Development).

What is a typical week like in the LVN program?

Vocational Nursing program is considered a full-time program. We do have online lecture classes, so you can expect 1 to 2 days a week working on online tasks and 1 day a week practicing at a clinical site.

How much will it cost to complete the Vocational Nursing Program?

Cost varies for each student depending on In-District and Out-of-District fees. The estimated cost for calendar year is enclosed in the Information Session packet and is on the Vocational Nursing web page. Financial Aid and the CTE Success Center are available for assistance.

Will the Vocational Nursing Department retain my application file for next year if I do not get selected for admission this year?

No. The Vocational Nursing Department does not retain files from year to year.

What does it mean to be placed on the 鈥淎lternate List鈥 for admission?

Applicants who meet the qualifications for an application to the Vocational Nursing program and who submit all the required data by the required deadlines will be ranked for admission. Applicants who are not offered full acceptance will be placed on the alternate list or sent a denial, based on ranking score. Full details are covered within the virtual information session.
