GRADING AND CREDIT

Policy


GRADING

The grading symbols used at ºÚÁÏÉç shall be listed and explained in the current college catalog.

A system for determining the final semester grades for each course is to be developed by the instructor and included in the syllabus for the course.

Assignment of grades shall be based on an evaluation of the student’s performance. The evaluation will be designed to measure achievement toward the specified objectives of the course.

The student has the right to expect that examinations for grades be constructed in accordance with the learninng outcomes of the course, and that these learning outcomes be communicated in writing in advance.


CREDIT HOUR

ºÚÁÏÉç shall define a semester credit hour as a unit of measure of instruction consisting of sixty (60) minutes, of which fifty (50) minutes must be direct instruction, over a fifteen-week period in a semester system or the equivalent amount of work over a different amount of time in accordance with Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board rules and regulations.


COURSE CREDIT

ºÚÁÏÉç shall grant course credit according to the guidelines established by the State of Texas. Credit will be awarded for course work taken on a noncredit basis only when there is documentation that the noncredit course work is equivalent to a designated credit experience.
Procedures shall be published that include criteria for evaluating, awarding, and accepting credit for transfer, experiential learning, credit by examination, and advanced placement.
